For our first lecture, we are going to talk about the biggest story from this NFL offseason, that doesn’t have the name Tim Tebow involved. That story is the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal, or “Bountygate”, as many called it.
Specifically, the absurdity of the whole thing, from the incident, right up to today.
First of all, a lot of people have talked about how many teams around the league have similar programs to what was going on in New Orleans. I would like to think that is not true, but I am not going to be naive here. It has to be true. It’s a violent game, these types of programs are going to pop up. But, what I DO know, is that no other team is stupid enough to have WRITTEN EVIDENCE of it!
The Saints had ledger sheets. LEDGER SHEETS!!!! Don’t you think if you are going to do something that the sport might not take to kindly to, you would keep it off of PAPER AND COMPUTERS?! Are you kidding me? I mean, there are a lot of things you can say about commissioner Roger Goodell, but you can’t say that he is BLIND. If you are going to do something like that, don’t keep records, huh?
