Arizona Diamondbacks 2013 Season Preview

Arizona Diamondbacks 2013 Season Preview:

Manager: Kirk Gibson (4th Season)

2012 Record: 81-81 (3rd in NL West)

Key Additions: SS Martin Prado, OF Cody Ross, SS Cliff Pennington, P Brandon McCarthy, P Heath Bell

Key Losses: OF Justin Upton, P Trevor Bauer, 3B Chris Johnson, OF Chris Young

2013 Outlook: There is no doubt that Arizona gave up quality players in Justin Upton and Brandon McCarthy, and there is some concern that production might drop. Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson might have had personality clashes with P Trevor Bauer, which could have led to the team trading him away. Gibson is an old school guy, and he might have a problem with players who have yet to mature.

Upton was a great young player who has the tools to be one of baseballs best players. While his speed and production will be missed, Arizona hit a home run in signing Cody Ross. Ross is a guy who will give you everything he has every singe night. He is tough, gritty, and could be a leader in the Diamondbacks clubhouse.

Many point to The Arizona Diamondbacks rotation as a concern, but it has the potential to be a strong suit for the club. Ian Kennedy, Brandon McCarthy, and Trevor Cahill set the table as the top of the rotation, which should put the Diamondbacks in a position to win.

Arizona will also boast a quality lineup. You have to be optimistic with Paul Goldschmidt, Martin Prado, Jason Kubel, Aaron Hill, and Cliff Pennington in the batters box and in the field.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will surprise people in 2013. The post season is not out of the question, and we fully expect Arizona to improve by 10-12 games in 2013.
