Country Fried Tuesdays: San Antonio Spurs Hold off Golden State Warriors

May 7, 2013; San Antonio, TX, USA; San Antonio Spurs bench players celebrate following a three point basket by San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili (20) during game one of the second round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs against the Golden State Warriors at the AT

The San Antonio Spurs won a horse race last night against the Golden State Warriors. It took two overtimes to get the job done, but veteran Manu Ginobili hit a three point dagger with less than five seconds remaining in the second overtime. Priior to that shot Ginobili had gone just 6-28 from the field and 1-8 from beyond the arc. His game winning three came at the right time, as the youthful Warriors were on the verge of stealing game one of the seven game series in San Antonio.

While I watched the game last night, trying to figure out which video to play for Country Fried Tuesdays, one song came to mind, Toby Keith’s “As Good as I Once Was” kept playing in my head. I’m not implying that the Spurs are too old to win the series, but I don’t know how many double overtime games they will survive against the youthful Warriors.

Let’s tip our cap to the old guys for grinding out the game one win.
